Art is truly life-giving when not contained to projects or assignments or studio spaces or art galleries. This series was a daily challenge to help maintain freedom and whimsy during a time of working intensely on a dance video in a studio.
It’s interesting how environments generate certain patterns of movement. One could almost say that they create invisible choreographies for humans to move. Somehow, in a magical and unspoken way, we comply. Just like when we see chairs we are prompted to sit down on them, or little paths through parks subconsciously direct the flow of our exploring of nature, or how large construction vehicles inspire some sort of fearful awe in us, or statues can expect to be looked at from a distance. The motivation for these daily moments was to interact with the environment in a different, unexpected way and to just have fun with movement.
