Chile’s peso has bounced back after the election of a left-wing student leader sparked a steep fall in the currency.
Gabriel Boric, the country’s youngest leader at 35 years of age, defeated his conservative rival in Sunday’s run-off election.
In his first day as president-elect, Boric tried to ease fears his leadership will cause economic instability.
But he has promised to try to rebalance the social inequalities which have driven bitter protests in the past.
