Vancouver is home to the second largest Filipino community in Canada with nearly 134,000 Filipinos residing there. Filipinos in Vancouver make up the third-largest Asian-Canadian and visible minority group behind the Chinese and South Asians.

As a universal form of self-expression, dance is a major part of the Philippine culture. From the traditional movements attributed to various regional groups to the modern repertoires inspired by the West, the Filipinos’ love for dance is deeply tied to the people’s appreciation and recognition of rhythm and beats.

Dance is an art. Filipinos that are into dancing are drawn to the artful movements and expression involved in this activity. Hence, dance is a popular pastime for students and workers looking for balance in their busy lives. Some even take their passion a notch higher by starting a career in dancing.

Dance completes any merriment. Filipinos love to have fun; that’s why a party is not complete without a round or two of dancing. Filipinos find it easy to adapt popular dance hits and the latest dance craze. We also add our own quirks to it since dancing is mostly considered a pleasurable group activity.
