“Esperando Al Gordo” is a Mexican short film that tells the story of Tláloc, an out of luck journalist that has been threatened to death. It is the first directing venture of Alexandro Rodriguez, Academy-Award nominee for editing Alfonso Cuaron’s “Children Of Men”. The short’s dark narrative involving dodgy Mexican politics takes life with spot-on performances by Joaquin Cosío and Gerardo Taracena.
As music supervisors, we were in charge of clearing the rights to classics by Creedence Clearwater Revival, Spooky Tooth and Guty Cárdenas, an eclectic musical selection that helps character construction and complements the dialogue as tension builds and unfolds.
“Esperando Al Gordo” premiered in Guanajuato International Film Festival 2019. A feature film with the same characters and a fully developed story is currently in the works.
