She was nicknamed the “Great Lady of the Harp” because Lily Laskine truly dominated the life of this instrument for over three-quarters of a century. Lily Laskine did not confine herself to her role as an orchestral instrumentalist, but began a career as a soloist, in recital, concerto and chamber music.

She thus aroused a new interest in the harp and brought back to life a part of the then forgotten repertoire. The harp owes it to her to have regained its letters of nobility, to have emerged from the role of salon instrument in which it had remained confined in the 19th century to become a solo instrument in its own right.

We have added to Debussy’s music the beautiful orchestration of Gabriel Pierné, a forgotten composer. Enjoy!
